After we became a privately owned company, the franchised stores changed their names and continued to stay in business. In fact, most adult toy stores you see across the country today started out as a Christie's Toy Box franchise back in the 1980's.
Our business model is the one that most adult businesses follow today. We were at the forefront of breaking through the typical 'adult bookstore' stereotype and making adult businesses more acceptable to women and couples.
We were one of the first adult toy stores of its kind. Christie's Toy Box has proudly been in business since 1979 - that's over 40 years! Our first store opened in October of 1979 in Oklahoma City and we have been growing ever since.
